CHARACTERS
Back in 2009 I started drawing a comic called Mister & Me, based on my adventures of being a single dad with my little boy. While the project was originally intended for my son’s entertainment only, I eventually shared it online at the urging of friends, and the characters took on a life of their own. In 2015 I was accepted into the National Cartoonists Society by a unanimous vote based on this body of work, which was incredibly humbling. It is also that comic series upon which my current book characters are based, albeit just a few years older and wiser.
Newell
Our hero. Newell is your typical middle school kid who loves his Saturday mornings, pancakes and his friends. He might be late to school too many times though!
Collin
Newell's best friend. Collin is always watching over Newell's back and is always ready for their distinct high-five.
Lilly
Lilly is always a voice of reason, and loves ballet.
SKyler
Skyler might be the group's math whiz, but doesn't mean she can't be goofy too.
MAX
Max, is probably thinking about hockey right now.
CLARA
Clara might be Newell's nemesis, but she's certainly part of the gang. But she does enjoy making Newell squirm sometimes.
Newell's Dad
Newell's dad is the maker of pancakes and throws out the occasional bit of wisdom too.
Mrs. Hendricks
Garfield Middle School's administrator. She might be strict on some of the rules but loves her early American history, especially, Teddy Roosevelt.
Mr. Todd
Garfield Middle School's principal. Most kids at school think he's grumpy because his bow tie is tied too tight.
